I had an 06 Rx330 that I drove until it had 356,000 miles on it.
They're great cars if you keep up on the maintenance. Changing the headlights and taillights is a bitch and expensive.

Yeah, every IS300 I've seen on the road has horrible headlights.

can't they just be polished?
eta thats why i love my 'real glass' 4runner headlights. i swear they still look brand new. i hate the plastic lights and how yellow/clouded they get. why did every car maker switch to that?

You can polish plastic headlights, but the coating is never the same as from the factory. I do this every few months on my car to keep them clear.
You can get kits that have special coating to protect the light but the give mixed results usually.
Manufacturers moved to plastic light because glass is more susceptible to cracks and chips.

You can also find decent priced replacement assemblies online. I replaced a pair on my old Grand Cherokee. Two weeks later my wife backed into it, called me crying, and when I realized the "wreck" she was in occurred in our driveway, and realized she was fine, I let her have it about my new headlights. Thankfully they were fine. I had about a quarter inch of white paint on my front bumper. She did $3,500 in damage to her car.

Well, it is a Toyota with better

But the frame, engine, drivetrain, etc, are all Toyota.

Easy to fix, you can use Toyota camry parts.

I had a 2000 ES300 for a while and really liked it. Really low maintenance and a sharp looking car.
Until I got taken out in a pit maneuver by a semi on the Eisenhower at 70 mph. But I walked away without a scratch and was shopping for a new car at the time so it just gave me a couple grand more to put down.

I picked a WRX over one and it was one of the best choices I ever made.
Don't buy your son a WRX btw unless you can get a great deal on insurance

What Camry parts are cross compatible with an IS? I think you're confusing it with the ES.

No, it's a Lexus. They do share many parts though. But Lexus generally is a better product than Toyota.
Tighter tolerances for body, fit and finish, higher end leather and wood trim (made by Yamaha Pianos).
It's actually a Toyota Altezza that has been rebadged and sold here as a Lexus IS300...
It's a great car but will probably need some work if the previous owner hasn't kept up with maintenance. The dash is generally trashed. Probably has some oil leaks. Nothing too bad if you're handy. One of my spare vehicles is a 2000 GS300 which is similar to the IS300. It shares the same drivetrain.

I've owned 3. The SC has a 2jz. I miss each one I had. Lots of fun and inexpensive to fix if he can do simple repairs and maintenance.
Oh I have an is350 currently. It's a blast as well.

Some 18 tear old girl texting ran me off the road back in Oct and totaled my 08 Acura TL Type S (manual)loved that car...I've been looking for a 2010 or 2011 IS350 (2010 1st year USB music interface). like 2010 are hard to find for some reason...plenty of 2011. Love another Acura but their perforated seats suck...even on the 2011's

I've heard they have a problem with excessive oil consumption.
