I'm not completely sure what you mean by "fast math" but my 3rd grader has math sprints. She has to do them 10 times a week Monday - Thursday, and there is a test on Friday.

There is 40-50 problems each week, you do the same set 10 times over the week. You have 5 minutes to do it.

When the time is up, you count the number correct, and there is a graph you place the number correct on, so you end up with a line graph over the 10 times you do it.

You turn in the sheet on Friday. She gets an A for a homework grade for completing the 10 sprints. Then, the exact same sheet is given as a quiz on Friday, which counts as a quiz grade.

It's funny. These sprints are essentially the same thing as math facts or multiplication tables. Repetition and memorization. Many people have complained on this here board that common core gets rid of old-fashioned rote memorization. Then, when rote memorization actually happens? People complain about this as well.
