If you installed an aftermarket HU in your 2005 BMW and didn't replace the factory amp with an aftermarket amp then you did the job incorrectly because that aftermarket head WILL burn out the factory amp GUARANTEED. Therefor that is obviously the sort of thing someone needs to know when they are asking for advice on how to do things. I doubt he is asking "how do do this incorrectly'
So, you obviously did yours INCORRECTLY, and since it's YOUR car, that's fine your choice, just don't go around giving people advice when you obviously have no idea what the frick you are talking about.
Aftermarket head units send more signal to the amplifiers than a factory BMW HU does and that signal will burn the factory amp up , maybe not right away but it will. The result will be no sound.
Bottom line, you are giving bad advice in this thread.
Also, a simple Google search will reveal that I am 100% correct on the BMW factory amp issue, and most modern vehicles have similar issues. Backyard fricks like you giving terrible advice helps no one.

Mine didn't have the premium audio. I asked all about that before hand. I'm also not giving any advice. I just said what I did.

It's not a premium sound issue. It's a BMW head unit issue. ALL BMW units that pair up with an amplifier require that the amplifier and the HU be replaced together if you are going to put in an aftermarket HU, unless of course you want see an amplifier get burned up. If you checked with someone and they told you differently, YOU got bad advice. And yes, you are giving advice in this thread "oh it's easy to change a HU, anyone can do it"

The wiring is the same, with the exception of stock amp controls in some models and rear video cameras and video in and out depending on model.
There are mounts for pretty much any car online.
Really it's not that different that it was then, just Din is not common and many use Double Din or that in between size.

I was told it was a premium issue. So one of you audiophiles told me wrong. Sold that car anyways so oh well.

TH03 is a know-it-all then tries to deflect that "someone gave him bad advice" and "it wasn't the premium radio" and "well i sold that car so i don't know what happened" and "but muh tundra" when his stupid post gets called out.

first you claimed you didn't have the premium radio so you did the install right
then after being called out you said "one of us audiophiles" must have given you bad advice
then to pre-empt potential uncomfortable questions about if your car radio still works you claimed to have sold it and started talking about your tundra
