Anyone here work for standard mortgage in Baton Rouge?

My mortgage was purchased by them. If I sell my house how fast do I have to pay back the money?

What do you mean? If you owe them money, they hold the deed. You can’t sell the house without paying them back at closing.

I could imagine the mess that would cause if they gave your average American all 300k or whatever when they sold their house

Title company handles the mortgage payoff for you at closing. You leave the closing with a check for whatever amount is leftover after your mortgage payoff and real estate agent commissions
