I have a Scottish Terrier/Spaniel mix. Same breed as the inspiration for the blue dog paintings. When I adopted him, the vet told me he was likely 75/25 ST/SP. His mannerisms mirror a ST perfectly. When I took him home, the vet had me review nothing but ST videos and articles on how to handle them. He was roughly 2 (likely younger) when I got him. Very stubborn at first and way too smart for his own good. Fast forward four years later and he's a perfect pet. Still full of energy and stubborn as frick.
The stories about them not shedding are not accurate. Be prepared to groom them often due to the heat. I personally shave his coat three times a year and he loves it. But he sheds a lot off and on. Get a good vaccuum and washing machine lol

Lost my Westie in 2024, but when she was young and she wouldn’t get out from under the bed, I’d grab that tail and slide her out and she’d be smiling ear to ear.
I’ve always considered Scotties to be black Westies.
