Thanks for the info everyone. I like to hear from people who have the experience rather than just from the recruiters as well.

If you are on Twitter you can DM me there. I use the same name (Wolfhound45 - @jpe0763). I am very (very) senior in the Army Reserve and know the senior medical leadership in the Air Force and Navy Reserve. And I will give it to you straight. All have good points and all have bad. But I would not waste your skills in the civilian life. If you are physically able I would definitely join some reserve component.

Does not apply to senior leaders in a unit.

Guess what you would be.

I’m about to join the coast guard reserves into the DEPOT program. It’s for former servicemen/people with a bachelor degree.

I have a buddy who was in the reserves and talked about how easy it was. Then Katrina hit and he spent two weeks in the Super Dome.

You sure your buddy wasn't in the guard? It is a subtle difference, but an important one.

(ETA: And that initial run at the Dome was only 10 days - but that would be quibbling. Coincidentally, I was accused of "quibbling" with a GO during that mission.)

Did we agree that you were the Raider company commander while we were both in Tiger Battalion?

We did not - and I'm still not sure who you are, but we definitely know each other.

ETA: What year were you commissioned, Ace?

I thought I figured it out last time.

You're not TAG Louisiana ( )

You're not any of the guys from the BR then Carville unit (DK, DS, SR). You're not MW or JB (this is who I thought I figured out your were - not the melon head, but the chinless pin) from the Raiders. You're not MH or PS (the news anchorman). You're not the engineer, LL.

My problem is - as a mid-year, I was between two classes. I swear I had it figured out during our last in depth conversation. Oh, well - muddying up a young man's thread with old reminiscing.

Are you in 90 or 91 - or both?

ETA: I'm in 90, page 263.

Damn near middle of both pics.

ETA2: Are you AD or FD?

Our town recruiter was always trying to get the seniors in highschool on board. A friend and I were considering joining so we started talking with the guy a lot, doing all the pre stuff, etc. Getting a stipend each month on top of free college sounded great. A few months after graduation I turned 18, was about to sign up officially until I learned that I wouldn’t be able to start college in til the Spring since I would have to do training in the fall.

I backed out, my friend went through with it. 1 year later I was at starting sophomore year LSU and he was shipping out to Afghanistan. He did his tour, finished up his term, graduated LSU, and will relentlessly call me a pussy until I die

Hey Butch - we chatted about ten years ago.

I think you were classmates with the twins whose Dad was a former PMS (Blakeley?). Both twins were on cadre my freshman and sophomore years (86/87 and 87/88) and I had them both.

I was between the 90 and 91 class. In 90, page 263, I am definitely NOT in the bottom picture.

If I'm in the top picture, I'm immediately behind you, off your right shoulder. (ETA: This is some question about this - Mrs. Midnight is not as sure that is me as I am, but I'm pretty sure.)

And, I remember all those folks, but I've lost about half the names, including yours.
