I knew a guy who was one for a period of time during his LEO career. He said you see a lot of nasty stuff like dismembered bodies, bodies that have been decaying in a hot apartment, murdered kids, deviant violations, etc. and you burn out on it, and move on to something else after a few years.

When I was younger I wanted to move to San Francisco to be one. Idk now . Doubt they'd hire me .

I had a buddy who was one. He's had some incredible stories, and some pretty damn heartbreaking ones.
He said most of the time it's tedious and boring. Working phones most of the time.

My friend who worked ARAB for EBRSO under Litchfield said the same shite. They were camping out by banks in the early 2000s cause of a string of bank robberies. It must’ve not been that interesting cause he left to go to work for the US Air Marshals. I can’t Imagine that was much more exciting, but the pay was much much better.

My uncle was a homicide detective for several years, and then he moved back to robbery because of this

One used to come into the bar I worked at. Cool guy. Same deal though. No sleep, several marriages, work was everything.
I asked him why did he do it then... he said someone had to. After his first marriage failed (that was his love of his life type thing) he figured since he fricked up his life already he'd keep doing the job so no one would have to fill his position and ruin theirs.
Liked Makers Mark.
He was married at least 3 times.

I was a detective and detective sergeant for several years. I also worked on a homicide task force. It is not glamorous but the bonds you build with coworkers will always remain strong. I struggled most with child victims, especially when my kids were younger and close to the same age as the victim. I'm still in LE but I really don't miss the callouts.
