Anyone have Sense Home electric monitoring?

Does it work and does it actually help in lowering your electric usage enough to justify its $299 cost?

I don't see how it could possibly be cost effective for a single family residence, unless you live in an area with extraordinarily high utility rates.

I'm not sure how well the typical household would respond to this if the only conclusion is identifying which appliances consume the most electricity. I suppose the consumer would either consider replacing an appliance with one that might be more energy efficient, or use those appliances less often.

It would make more sense if there were more electric companies charging rates that matched wholesale prices at the moment of consumption. This would enable consumers to reduce their usage during peak rate hours of 3-5 pm where energy costs are almost double what they are during other times of the day.
