One of my great grand fathers, maybe great great, was the doc that signed the papers to get him out of the mental hospital. Odd, as the other side of my family tree likely had a part in having his brother killed. That’s all I’ve got.

How old?

This woulda been about 1988 or so. I imagine she was mid to late 50s.
She looked elegant and fancy. I remember she had on an orange-ish dress when everyone else was in shorts and t-shirts(weekday in the summer).

I wasn't quite ogling chicks yet but she would have definitely been doable by my standards today.

And it didn't take "long" for the La. residents to put an end to that...

I have friends who own the house in the Baton Rouge garden district that his wife lived in after they divorced. Not a great story but that's all I got like a lot are saying.

When I was a kid I had a crystal, radio,I would lay in bed when I was supposed to be asleep listening to music.
Earl Long was in Alexandria so instead of music they were broadcasting a speech he was giving at City Hall.
He was ranting and raving and started cussing a blue streak, radio station cut him off and they went back to playing music.

My grandfather was a state senator and an Earl Long “guy”. One night he gets a phone call from the San Antonio police saying that some guy claiming to be the governor of Louisiana was locked up and he gave them my grandfather’s phone number. So my grandfather left in the middle of the night and headed off to San Antonio with bail money.

There was a grocery store downtown. Long was in there one Saturday morning. Young kid working there. Someone else told the kid that was the Governor. DIdn't believe him. Man said go ask him so the kid did. Unfortunately for the kid, the Governor started berating him, something about don't they teach you anything in school, etc.

Thanks. Feel like I was there now.

Which Long was it who was dining with the President (I think it was FDR, so it might have been Huey if it was) and he leaned over and asked “How ‘bout dem ersters??”
