We stayed in one in Florida last summer and the same thing happened. I called the owner and she was out of state but supposedly called a HVAC company. I removed the Ring thermostat, bought a $35 one at HD and installed it and about 2 hours later she called and asked about the thermostat....probably because it was sending her some kind of error. I told her it seemed to be working fine. We stayed 4 nights and it was very cool the whole time. When we left I replaced the Ring thermostat and took mine with me.

Most people are psychopaths. Your insane hypothetical doesn’t even make practical sense, according to the OP they went and got other accommodations for the remainder of their trip. What would be the point of intentionally bugging your Airbnb only to stay somewhere else
What an idiot!
It wouldn't make a lick of sense if they were all in on it....never suggested that. It makes about as much for anyone in the group to do it but it is not out of the realm of possibility, again, she have thought it'd be funny, she may have had some sort of sick fantasy rambling around in her head, who knows what goes on in the mind of humans, but it ain't impossible. If she brought it up on the way there its almost certain she is the culprit.....
As someone else suggested they may have also claimed it happened to get out of paying for the one. Who knows.

this is well into the believable category.

Three young women find a hidden camera in a bathroom. Don’t call authorities, don’t take photos, don’t share it with the world for ‘likes’ and attention?? Nope they flush it down the toilet and go on about their vacation.

Extremely odd lie. Some of you dumbasses need to learn how to make your bullshite stories believable
It happened. New Years Eve 1987 in Dunwoody Georgia, around 10 PM if memory serves, just down the street from Perimeter Mall, somewhere around 4718 Ashford Dunwoody Road but the house was torn down to apply a strip center sometime in the last 38 years. About 1/4 mile from the Dunwoody Police Department Headquarters which I think existed at the time but wouldn't swear to it. I do not know if they would keep a record that long but I assume when they responded they would have made some sort of report. If they do you are welcome to contact them....it happened.
The owner of the house was the father in law of another friend whose family owned the entirety of the east side of Ashford Dunwoody Road from I-285 to Mt. Vernon road. His son in law was living in the house, a 2 story brick house with an apartment in the basement where the husband hid the camera. The man who owned the house lived next door in a log cabin that had been on the property since the end of the civil war. This cabin was visible from Ashford Dunwoody road and was well known in the 1980s as "The Shack" because it was and looked like a civil war era log cabin in the midst of a pretty upscale developing neighborhood. The owners daughter was an actress who played roles in area dinner theaters and the occasional small role at the Alliance theater. She was some sort of staff actress at the Alliance and her husband, my friend at the time, worked there as a volunteer building sets. He also was a district manager of a chain of fast food restaurants in North Georgia...as far as I know still is but was the manager of the Burger King in Dunwoody at the time. His wife passed away sometime in 1992 I think and he remarried a woman who worked for him who had several kids and they have a couple of their own.
This family owned Dunwoody for all practical purposes at the time and anyone who knows the area understands the wealth and influence that would be involved in owning Dunwoody. The man who lived in "the shack" was notorious for being drunk and shooting guns at his house, just a stones throw away from Perimeter Mall. The Dunwoody police knew him well....he was, as far as I know, never charged with a crime.
All of this may help you find the answers you are looking for.....

I posted that there was 4 of them but don't let that get in the way of my made up story

No idea if the other 3 did or not

Flushed it, got a refund and found a condo in Orange Beach and continued their vacation.
Any other questions, Detective?

I walked into my room at a hotel once, and there was a Mexican fellow butt-naked and masturbating to porn that he'd charged to my room. He was an employee of the hotel. I received a full refund.
Two clues:
A big Rice fan.
Great hair.

Turn off wifi.
And that owner is an idiot. If you can remotely control thermostat, you can likely also put it on a schedule and lock it. I do that with my kids' thermostat

They talked about hidden cameras on the way there
Then got drunk and proceeded to search for a hidden camera
Actually found one
Did not call the cops because of “weed”
I’m smelling the bullshite through my screen

I recently stayed at an Airbnb, no problems. But if they had a camera in the bedroom, I'm sure the video would be all over the net by now

Had a cousin who booked an Airbnb in the Upper Ninth Ward. Nothing happened to him the three days he was there but he was scared shitless coming back each night.

quote:this BS has gotten rampant. I was booking our Christmas ski trip this year, and narrowed it down to a few of them. Decided on the one, and requested to book. “I forgot to update my calendar” was the response. 2 more places one was “hacked working with Abnb to fix another one was forgot to update calendar. They basically doubled the price for the week. The best way is only use instant book places. I learned that this year. The fricking fees are as bad as VRBO now.
Plus, the bait and switch of showing you a price that isn't the actual price just to reel you in.
Edit: Forgot to add that if you don’t notice the change and continue it will book at their adjusted rate.

quote:they haven’t fixed it. Now they quote a reasonable amount for the timeframe you show on the app/site. When you request to book it there’s some BS about forgot to update calendar. Price literally will jump 1.5-2X. Only thing to avoid it is instant book only filter. It’s also annoying you can’t filter by price like VRBO.
Thats their major change - I give them credit for fixing it.
