Her loans are deferred at the moment. She is back in school now to get her masters in health administration.

Hospital administrators make decent money though right? I mean....obviously not what she could have earned depending what she did as a dentist.

They can. That sucks. She'll have to spread her loans out over like thirty years.

She is single too. Imagine you start dating a girl and then she tells you "oh btw, I've got over 500k in student loan debt...for a career I'm physically allergic to"

When do you disclose that to a guy you are seeing? Before or after you first have sex?

I wonder if she could teach at a dental school. Loan forgiveness is definitely the way to go there.

Going to have around 110,000 after I finish Pharmacy school and the interest is added. Hoping to pay it off in 10 years

You don't disclose something like that until after your first trimester

How much would monthly student loan payments be for that level of loan debt?

If it's a 10 year loan term at 6% it's a little over $5500 a month

If you're a 100% sure it's the career for you, then go for it. I was accepted at a top law school (much riskier field) and would have had 200k+ debt. I was not totally sure it's what I wanted to do in life, it would have been more for my ego than truly wanting to be a lawyer. So I decided against it. Once you've finished that first semester, it reaches the point of no return.

Not when you make over a certain amount (I think it's 85k MAGI). And even if you aren't over the limit, the max you could deduct would be $650 or so.

We plan on giving ourselves a small to moderate raise when the cash starts flowing in and live essentially like we've been living for past 6 years (delayed gratification) and throw quite a bit per month at student loans with goal of being debt free (at least from school loans) in under 2 years. Not the way everybody does it but I'm just ready to have it off my shoulders

Yep, if you combine my wife's and mine. Paid a little over 50k on it last year. Will be done in 1.5 or 2 years. It sucks but will be a lot of disposable income when done.

Is there any real benefit to going to the best Dental School in the country v an average school?

I started with 190 upon graduation. Five years out I'm right at 100. Should be done at the end of this year. Your minimum payment will be right at a grand.
