I didn't go as a kid, but I went as an adult chaperone twice with my two youngest kids. They loved it.
The marine science camp at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab was even better, though, imho.

True tale from space camp:
Coworkers 8 year old son went this summer. Poor kid left his bathing suit on the bathroom floor while he was in the shower stall. Another kid shite in It while it was unattended. So basically someone else shite his pants.
