He could stop smoking and see if symptoms continue.. That's what I would suggest.

When I had to go to the ER years ago for what ended up being a gall bladder situation the nurse kept leaving and she was bitching about having to deal with people who go to the ER for bullshite. Your cousin seems like that type.

That’s like shitting yourself every time you eat a carton of ice cream and then going to the doctor. Put down the carton; put down the bong.

Yes.

It is real.

Your family member has a problem. He is an addict.

The cause is the marijuana.

It’s a common thing to see in the ER. It’s a complex and not entirely understood mechanism whereby the lower esophageal sphincter is relaxed while gastric motility is decreased. Improvement of symptoms with hot showers is damn near diagnostic. We don’t know why some chronic smokers develop it and others do not.

Convincing these patients to stop smoking is unsurprisingly the biggest barrier to them getting better. 1.25-2.5 mg droperidol nips it in the bud. These patients unfortunately get a lot of excess radiation because of how histrionic they present. They have a very classic sound to their vomiting (more like loud, dramatic retching without vomit) that we call scromiting

You gonna get downvoted because the OT thinks weed is a miracle drug with no negative side effects

I think it's called scromiting.
I already intensely dislike this word.

You’re family member sounds like a moron, but that condition is wild, have literally never heard of it before this thread, and I’m not exactly unfamiliar with the pots.

Truth.

Scruffy would like someone to explain how an individual can suffer debilitating side effects from the use of a substance, while refusing to stop said substance because he enjoys the feeling, and it still isn’t worthy of being called an addiction.

Replace 'of a substance' with 'the OT' and Scruffy hits a little close to home.

I've had it. Worst nausea of my life. Vomiting til there was nothing left and then dry heaving for hours. Standing, sitting, laying on the floor in front of the toilet, just trying to find any position that didn't feel like there was an anvil on my belly.

I went to the ER two days in a row and I was in enough pain that they shot me up with morphine 5 or 6 times. I thought they were full of shite because weed has always eased nausea for me, but when it came back yet again the next day, I got in the shower and it was like a silver bullet. I read something in a medical journal that says that the symptoms being relieved by hot showers might be the quickest way to diagnose it.

My case seemed to be triggered by a trip to Colorado. Aside from smoking tons of weed there (not unusual for me back then), I bought several bottles of this THC powder that was
meant to be mixed into regular food
to turn it into edibles. I think I overdid it on that.

I've returned to weed (though have cut back) and have never had any more issues. My case is probably an outlier, but it's real and it fricking sucks.
