To get certified:
You have to get your learners permit. In order to do this, you have to pass an exam at a DMV that offers CDL testing.
I used this Test Prep
Once you get your permit (With the school bus endorsement) you can practice driving a bus. I worked for a school so I just practiced there. You have to drive with a licensed driver.
Once you are ready for the exam, you have to schedule a test at the DMV. If you are going to be using a bus equipped with airbrakes, you have to recite the airbrake test ver batem. Then you have to conduct a walkaround and point out a set number of items. You then to a drive where you have to do things like: parallel park driver/passenger side and some other simple things. You then do a drive around the city.
If you pass, you get your CDL.
You must also get a DOT physical, which range from $50-$120 dollars and are good for two years.
Hope this helps.

You have the drive of a millennial.

When I rode the bus the driver was required to have a drivers license and be in the 11th grade. He would occasionally let me sit in his lap and steer. Good times for a second grader

I think it's a special class of CDL.Probably the same weight as a Class-B,which is 26,000 lbs,but the safety issues and the door are probably certifications that have to be renewed every 4 years.
Are you crazy though.

Our bus was a madhouse. Cannot imagine driving it.
I'd try to find another option.
