Anyone ever do the DNA kit they advertise on TV?

If you are of Cajun decent, they skip Nova Scotia (Acadie) entirely and do straight to France/Europe.

Let's say your ancestors went from Europe to Nova Scotia to Louisiana. If during the time that they were in Nova Scotia they only married other families who had come from Europe before moving to Louisiana then how would anyone ever know genetically that they had lived in Nova Scotia?
