Yeah, I've played and coached soccer, and am a fan of the game. And I have no idea what it means to be hipster or elitist. Soccer is just one sport among many. If it's not for you, then it's not for you.

But I don't get the people who compare it to football and say it sucks. Nobody compares golf or basketball or baseball to football and says that they suck. They're all totally different games.

Because we know message board posters are the middle ground of any group.

Not to mention just a few posts earlier you said that someone can't like soccer and women then retracted your statement. He was just trying to get a rise out of the non soccer folks.

I'll watch it if I'm not doing anything. I won't go out of my way to catch a match.

Same for me. I have zero interest in watching mls but the world cup is great and I try to watch as much as possible. I try to catch some euro cup games as well, as that tournament is almost as good as the wc. I wish I could get into the European league games but there are just too many leagues and teams I don't have enough time to watch and digest it all.

You can tie in the NFL, just ask mcnabb.

For all those saying soccer is a boring sport obviously means that they have never played it competitively. You don't understand the skill and fitness those guys have. I will say I fricking hate flopping. Play the game physically, it's more fun that way. I love when refs let the game dictate the momentum, not some bullshite flops

It's just the only sport I've come across that I feel is forced on people by fans. That may be because I'm a fan of just about any other sport but idk. Also previous experiences with people involved in the sport completely turned me off from it.

Certainly fair. I think it feels that way because USA Soccer fans want other Americans to love the sport they have fallen for. Everywhere else in the world, it is THE sport. Here it is barely considered a sport at all. Still, it is growing in popularity in America and I am hoping in the next 10 years we can start competing with the world power houses.

I don't force Soccer on anyone but I will be the first person to say I have fallen in love with the sport. Especially international soccer.

I played numerous sports growing up and this was one of my favorites. It took a while for me to enjoy watching it, though.

The one thing I do like about soccer is there are no commercial breaks outside of half time.

Not as boring as baseball or Les Miles' offense.

Nothing worse than investing 2 hours of your day for a 0-0 tie

Sometimes 0-0 games can be very exciting. There can be a great build up play leading to a wonderful strike only for the goalie to make a spectacular save. That play may have resulted in nothing, but it was fun to watch and there can be a bunch of those in one game. Plays like that are exciting from a nuetral fan perspective. But as an ivested fan a missed oppurtunity like that can mean the difference between promotion/relegation or intrance into a tourney.

Such a boring sport. How the hell can you have a tie?

NFL ends in ties right?
also over a season you try to gain as many points as possible. So sometimes going for 1 point(a draw) is better than losing and getting 0.

For anyone thats says its broing just give it a try. Its the most popular sport in the world for a reason.

I think the lack of popularity in America is what makes it difficult. How much air time does MLS get? On top of that, I find it confusing with all the different leagues and shite

Y'all should put a tutorial or something on the soccer board for people like me that understand most of the rules in a game, but not the big picture of leagues and whatnot.

Hey I completely understand them wanting other people to love it as they do. But I hate when they look down on non fans for being ignorant or intolerant.

I mean shite, our HS soccer team was filled with guys who couldn't make any other team. It's kind of hard not to overlook the sport. Doesn't help when even they were pulling that "soccer is the best you just don't understand it"

MLS got a great TV deal for next season which will help a lot. Specific time slots for games. Will be very positive for MLS and the sport in America.

There is something wonderful about watching a sport without interruption aka commercials for 45 straight minutes.

HS can be kind of a joke, depending on where you live. My HS soccer team outdrew the football and basketball teams in regards to attendance. And football was for the kids who couldn't make the basketball or soccer team. Just depends. Also, many clubs don't even allow their players to play foe their HS.

Those people aren't nearly as bad as the "soccer is gay" people.
