I've been seeing it for weeks. I realized before then that every time I went out of town I'd get 5G. Wasnt till a few weeks ago I started noticing 5G in BR.

AT&T 5Ge is still just 4G. It's not even as fast as Verizon 4g. You have to have a 5G capable phone to get 5g, and those are new to the market with only a couple of models available.
Plus you have to pay extra for it.

5Ge is not true 5G. ATT is pulling a fast one (or a slow one)

They did in Houston when I was there about a month ago. Noticed the 5G icon on my phone so I ran speedtest and got 60+ MBPS download
Your carrier calls it "5G" but it really wasn't
5G peak download speed: 2.5 GB/s (gigabytes per second), or 2,560 MB/s (megabytes per second)
5G peak upload speed: 1.25 GB/s (gigabytes per second), or 1,280 MB/s (megabytes per second)

shite, you're right. I just tested it on LTE in NOLA and got 146 down and 21 up
yea when we are getting legit 5g it'll be 8-10x's as fast.

I was in San Francisco last week and they have it and it is terrible

just to clarify, it's "5Ge" which a small step above 4G LTE, not the gigabit 5G

You have to have a 5G enabled phone (S10 and a few others) to even see the higher bands.
ATT just lost a lawsuit for using software to trick its users into thinking there were on 5G.
In reality, most users are seeing a combination of macro BTS and unlicensed carriers (LAA) doing 3-5CA to get your speeds to 900mb or higher.
Verizon and TMO actually have 5G markets. VERY SELECT and the you have to be essentially on top of the gNB.

That’s still LTE, not a step above.

I noticed the same icon a couple of times while downtown attending Astros games. It did seem to be faster but I dont really know. I even had the icon in the stadium and that was noticeably better than the service I usually get in there.
