For me, the hardest part about a post apocalyptic world, would be acting like I’m not excited about living in a post apocalyptic world.

How has no one pointed out that you decry the "rat race," while you pine for the same thing with much more serious consequences. Stop buying shite you can't afford, and all of a sudden you don't have to work for your shitty boss anymore, and you have options.

There are days where I think an apocalypse wouldn't be a bad idea. It would be a rude awakening for a lot of people.
