We are comfortable in the heat of the summer with the temp at 78 or 79. If I were to go into a house with a thermostat set at 72, I'd be uncomfortably cool. When guest stay at our house it's not uncommon for me to notice they turn the T down to 75 or lower. Why make it so cool in the summer that you have to cover up with a blanket at night? But I have to have air conditioning or I wouldn't live in the south.

Born in 52 and lived in an old shotgun house in the Lower 9th until age 17 in 70 with only a big Reed whole house window fan to move air. Bought that old house in 74 and didn't have A/C until mid 78 when I put in a single 220 unit to cool part of it.

Once you have A/C, it's pretty much all over for tolerating heat. I'd not want to return to living in this part of the world without A/C, especially when cooking a meal during the day to feed the family at night. FUG THAT

I used to work almost entirely outside and now work an office job. Conditioning to the heat is a real thing. I would get hot outside, but now I feel like it’s more intense.
