I try to look for deals, and we usually buy the same groceries every week, but I've gotten to where I don't even look at the total now. I just assume it will be around $200 a week. Family of 5, one is about to graduate and the next one is almost a teenager with the appetite to back it up. Youngest doesn't eat a ton yet. I'm just glad we're past the stage of picky eating. Cooked spaghetti the other night and everyone ate and got seconds. A few years ago it would have been complaints from the youngest two the whole meal.

Publix usually has their brand of frozen pizzas for $4, and that has been a cheap go to meal lately. Pop a cheese one in for the boys and a different one for my wife, daughter, and myself, and I've just fed everyone for $8. Usually have a few slices left over for my lunch the next day.

I’m still amazed every time I go to the grocery store for just a few bags of simple items.

Same here. I look at my half full cart when I check out as I pay $200.

The price you pay now, when adjusted for inflation during the Biden years, is much cheaper. What helps Americans also is their wages are not nearly as stagnant as they were during the years of the auto-pen.

Lots of un-employed federal workers are complaining though. Even the illegal aliens being sent back home are pissed. Hence, the MSM doomsday reaction.

Fortunately, we're well off financially, but we don't eat out unless traveling. We don't get $7 coffee drinks from 7 Brew/Starbucks, we don't door dash, we drive old cars (several hundred thousands of miles on them). Our first two houses were starter homes, we didn't buy a nice house until we were late 40s. Also, I changed my vice from drinking (can get expensive) to Delta 9, which cost about a $1 to feel better than alcohol and wake up with no hangover.

The amount of young people that have no concept of being disciplined with money is beyond me. I know people with less than $100k combined income who send kids to private school, have new SUVs/trucks and send crazy money on the weekends.

All we have to do is stop the crazy spending

In theory I agree.
In practice we're talking:
-food
-gas
-shelter
-gov't- mandated insurance

It's simple, but it's not easy

I just looked back on my household bills.. In 2020 my natural gas bill was $22 and now it is $36.. My Entergy bill was $49 and it is now $110... Water was $52 and now $98 and for some reason seems to be climbing every month with no more water usage... My homeowners/Property Tax/Flood is somewhere in the +$4000 range in that time period...

In Jefferson parish you pay once every 2 months for water/garbage. People are going apeshit because some are getting bills in excess of a $1000 for unknown reasons.. They try to call the water department (no walk ins since Covid) and get put on hold for hours then get some explanation that the customer have a water leak.

Nope… i constantly find my self speaking the price out loud of items back in the day

“Damn this regular size candy bar 3$ it was 50¢ when I was growing up”

“Gas 4$ it was .98¢ at the Exxon on Desiard my senior year in high school “
