Looking for somewhere nice to go for a weekend. Looks very nice out there. Looking to do some fishing, hiking, cooking, kayaking, etc. If you have better suggestions of places to go please let me know.

I know there's quite a few that frequent the Outdoor Board that go there quite often. Might check over there.

I haven't been in a few years, so I am not sure what recreational facilities are there...damn good fishing, though...

I went up there for a weekend 5-6 years ago to play Black bear Golf Club. We stayed in a cabin on the reservoir. We didn't fish, but we hung out on the patio, drank beer, and BBQ'd...everyone had a good time.

Caney Lake is a much much much much nicer and cleaner lake than Poverty Point. Poverty Point is a flat, featureless, muddy, shallow, boring body of water they call a lake.

Went when it was new.
Cabins were nice.
You can dock your boat next to your cabin.
Nice porch you can fish off of and catch fish.
It was a newer park back then with no trees around the cabins.

I did see two black bears at night trying to go through the garbage cans the first night I stayed there. Second night I ran into a nice size bobcat while taking the trash out trying to get in the trash can.

Best one was a possum got stuck in my wheel well of my F150. Got home when the wife opened the door I saw his tail was stuck in an opening in the door. I messed with that possum and when it got released it ran toward my neighbors flower garden while she was working in the garden.

You have to go to Poverty Point Indian Mounds in Epps(?).
