It is very far from OK. It is probably a two hour commute from Hammond to Covington on 12 right now. Take 55 to the Causeway and up to Mandeville. All bullshite aside. 12 is a parking lot.

He's not lying - I12 is at a dead stop on both sides between Robert and Covington. Westbound is flooded, not sure whats going on east. 190 and 22 are closed bc of flooding.

Just looked at Waze--a cop got jimmies rustled because person marked his position...This cop fails to understand that his location, especially in a situation like flooded roads, may be very important to someone in a traffic jam who may have a dire situation arrise. It seems as though this cop only thinks in "us against them" mode.

Shouldn't he be doing something other than playing around on Waze anyway? The area is flooding, no?

How can you confirm the rustling of the cop's jimmies? I plan on using waze tomorrow to get from Slidell to Walker.

Take the Twin Span through the CBD across the Spillway to Baton Rouge and 12 east to Walker. Seriously.

Thanks for the feedback. That doesn't sound like much fun at all. I'll keep monitoring the discussion on TD and checking out waze.

Is the cresting of the Amite the main issue?

Tangipahoa is the biggest concern now and it isn't cresting until noon tomorrow. It is close to crest now, but won't recede until tomorrow afternoon. 12 is a parking lot between Covington and Hammond due to water coming over the road.

Yep. Bunch of people are just sitting at home in Tangi, waiting for the water to go down.

Waze will never be as helpful as someone who's actually been sitting in the traffic but you know how this board is

just look at the traffic map on Google
Westbound is backed up from hwy 21 in Covington all the way to the tangi river at Robert. Eastbound is backed up from before 1077 to 21

since 190 and 22 are both closed its the only east/west route thru tangi/st Tammany. Do not attempt 12 tonite unless you have hours to burn

The Google traffic map is often not accurate. Sometimes it shows traffic where there is none.
