Went last night...the pancakes were smaller, the biscuits thinner and hardly any sugar in the sweet tea

SWFL here...we eat at Cracker Barrel all the time and the quality is consistent. Sorry the one by you sucks.
Yeah, I'm surprised by everyone complaining about the decline in food quality. I don't go often, but the one near my house is always good. There's another good one in Indiana that I stop at when I'm traveling.
However, I will agree that the service is inconsistent compared to years ago. We have gotten the "sorry for the delay, we're shorthanded" line from servers more than once.

Stopped at the one at the Hot Springs, Arkansas exit today. I don't like the new lunch choices on menu- soup, salad, and potato when it used to be small protein and a side or two. It was just as close to the interstate as fast food and tasted better. We both ate for $26. Picture of side salad for tax.

Anytime I’m traveling I-49 with family, my kids for some reason demand we stop at the one north of Alexandria.

Usually stop at ones in MS and AL on the way to FL. May have declined somewhat since pandemic, but still love their pancakes and breakfasts for a decent price.

My mom (97) likes their catfish, so we go occasionally. There are other places with better, so not often.

Some girl boss from L.A. took it over and she’s trying to follow the Applebees model

I ate at one a few weeks ago and got the shepherd’s pie, which is a special menu item for fall. I didn’t have high expectations, but Cracker Barrel surprised me. Their shepherd’s pie was delicious and a generous helping—enough food for 2 meals. The meat was pot roast instead of ground meat, and it was tender and had a tasty gravy. It also had a layer of hash browns on top, which were nice and crispy. It was served in a small cast-iron skillet. It wasn’t what you think of as a traditional shepherd’s pie, but it was delicious and plentiful.

We used to eat at Cracker Barrels once or twice a month, especially when travelling. However, around 2015-16, we began having to always wait at least 20 minutes for a table regardless of time of day or location. Not worth the wait every time. So it's been about 8 years.
I didn’t eat at CB as much as you did, got breakfast from them every 3-4 months.
But looking back, I noticed a decline around that time, maybe a year or two later than you. Hadn’t been there since Covid, then got breakfast from them about 6 months ago, haven’t been back.

We go occasionally. My husband brought the kids to one the other night when I had a meeting to attend.
In 2019, we were driving to New York City and on day 2 some of the kids got sick - day 3 & 4 were terrible - no one had eaten and everyone was grumpy, we thought about turning around.
Day 5 we were somewhere in Virginia and one of the sick kids said ‘can I have pancakes’ and the next exit had a Cracker Barrel. That was the best damned Cracker Barrel I’ve ever had. Everyone ate, the biscuits and corn bread kept coming out. The waitress had another pancake made for the kid that had been really sick. It was so nice.
