Best advice I can give is find someone who knows what they’re doing.

Seems easier said than done. What’s the best way to find a surgeon that knows what they’re doing or to avoid one who doesn’t?

Best way is to find a knowledgeable Nurse, scrub tech or CRNA that frequently works with a surgeon in the operating room. I can’t count the times I’ve seen people recommend a buddy from med school or a nurse recommend a surgeon they run in to when they’re rounding. Both those people have never seen the surgeon operate. Just because someone is a real nice guy doesn’t mean they’re a good surgeon.

They were both in their late 40's, early 50's. I think they both had blood clots or some other pulmonary issue.
