Yea, looking at that pay scale is so enticing. Been out for 6 years now and there are some aspects of the civilian world that I like, but a lot that I don't.

Are you in?

Yea, OCS would be sooo much quicker but I couldn't see leaving my newborn for 6-8 months for OCS and Bolc.

I hear you need a Masters if you ever want to make it past O-3 anyway, so this kills two birds.

I guess degrees that are online are the same as brick and mortar degrees?

If you go to a brick and mortar that offers online degrees, it doesn't say "online" on your degree. If you go to a school that is strictly online, then it's obvious.

I'm in undergrad right now with a family. shite is hard. Most of the major classes are at night after daycare closes.

Yea, the AF wouldn't give me the time of day because I'm prior service. They told me they don't consider prior service no matter what.

Yes. I'm graduating the 16th. Prepare for very little sleep and constant overwhelming stress. I'm almost to the point of believing it's been worth it.

Edit to say I'm 45 and hadn't been in a classroom in 20 years before this, so it may be a little easier for you.

Getting into OTS in this climate is tough. The AF has been force shaping for years now.

Every officer friend I know told me to try to go USAF officer. Straight Cush life. Nothing against the Navy, but I just don't want to be a SWO which is 90% of their officers.

I've been out of the AF for 3+ years, but I know they were downsizing the force. Getting into OTS became more difficult b/c they only wanted certain degrees. I'm sure it's even harder today. The best way to get commissioned is through ROTC.

Just graduated law school this month (ahead of schedule). Worked full time in law enforcement. Wife and two kids. If you can be disciplined with your time, anything is possible.

Central AL.

I have ideas for some areas to get into on my own. Going to have to figure out if I can/want to finish out my state retirement. I could do that working in a DA's office, public defender's office, or maybe the state AG's office. I'm already vested, but the full retirement would be nice. The ideas for my own practice look promising it things work out as well as the projections in my business plan. Going on my own would allow me to be more picky about cases that could be associated with my niche area. I have already put my current background in LE to work in a murder trial for the "other" side and absolutely loved it. Pre-paid self-defense representation for concealed carry permit holders is part of my niche practice area that I have in mind.
