I dated a girl in college whose parents were hoarders. The kind that needed intervention.
I had a friend in high school with parents like this, so it wasn't completely shocking, but they had "cleaned up" for their college daughter's first boyfriend home visit. Because she wasn't there anymore, they had turned her room into a catch all room, and gf starts complaining to her mom about it. Her dad motions at her, she leaves the room with him and she come back completely quiet. She would not say a word. I was very uncomfortable.
Anyway, we are about to leave for dinner and they have this breezeway between their garage and kitchen. She sits me on a bench and jumps me. After a couple minutes she whispers "there's more when we get back" and my mind is where is this going to happen!
I sit down in her car and smell a foul odor. I had sat in dog shite on that bench. I bought some new khaki shorts at a Wal Mart in Amory, Mississippi that night. And while I was completely embarrassed, she wasn't surprised.
I ghosted the hell out of that girl when we got back to Starkville.

Friend of mine went out of town to visit GFs parents in lake charles. They went out and got sloppy at OBs and after he slept upstairs at the parents.
He pissed the bed and had to go downstairs for breakfast and tell them what happened.

Not a nightmare story but more a perspective into Alabama trashy. I had dated a girl a couple weeks when asked to meet her parents when we pull up to their trailer I noticed it didn't have steps to the front door, when we get around back they had a chair to step up to get on a kitchen table to get in the back door, if I would have kept dating her it might have turned into a nightmare

On my first date with my now wife, as I was walking up the driveway, an old woman's voice shouted through the open window, "Look what the cat drug up."

Dated a woman who had a kid from a previous marriage. Said she was the one who ended her previous marriage and he was not happy about it. So anyway my g/f says she wants me to meet her family for the first time. So one night we pull up to a house with a bunch of cars in front of it. She explained right before we went in that this was her ex-husbands parent’s house. I was stunned by this. She wanted me to meet them. I was thinking ”why?” So I went inside to find her ex-husband was there. Also her ex-husband’s best friend, and ex’s brother, and ex’s new wife with kids all waiting inside to meet me. So I’m sitting at this table with ex’s family and they are playing some domino game that I don’t know the rules to. G/f brings me into the next room and wants to know why I am not playing the game or talking much. I just said it is awkward and I will warm up to everyone. She explained this was her family and I need to try harder. I responded with “how are you related to anybody in this house?” Now I have done it. Snowballed from there. Relationship ended shortly after that night.

First time I ate dinner with my wife’s parents i was really focusing on listening, and interacting I somehow set my hand down catapulting my fork onto my plate salsa splattered all over my shirt.

My gf while in HS dad was a prison guard who didnt care too much for me. I went over one night to pick her up, he is standing in the front yard holding a pistol "She's not ready yet, let's take a little walk." We go into the wooded backyard and Im thinking Im about to dig my grave at gunpoint waiting for this bitch. He had a few targets set up that he wanted me to watch him shoot at. He gets about 5-6 shots off before my gf's mom comes out telling us that the gf is ready to go. Couldnt get the hell outta there fast enough. Later her parents divorced, never saw that douche again as she lived with her mom who friggan loved me.
Last I heard, he was caught selling drugs to inmates and was in pretty big trouble.

IMO the fathers who meet you, while holding a gun or sharpening a knife, are trying way to hard at appearing tough
