With the school year coming up, I was unsure about my son’s private school or the math science and arts academy in St. Gabriel. Anybody have kids who go there or went there?

I’ve heard good things about it. It’s a small school with a good academic rating. I’m not sure they have any sports though, maybe soccer.

Believe you have to live or work in the parish to get in.

It’s pretty solid academically.

Athletically the students there play for East Iberville. Had a girl win state in gold they went there and represented East at the championships

It has a few AP classes, a few dual enrollment classes, robotics and engineering program. They will find a coach and have a team of one if you want your kid to do tennis or swimming or golf or such. Other sports are at East Iberville. Pretty calm, laid back place. You can walk in and apply any time at the East Academy as it is not at capacity. They never replaced the 2nd HS math/AP computer science teacher last year for High School so some kids got stuck in online crap monitored by a sub all year. The actual 1 remaining math teacher is awesome. Gifted programs are awful and most families looking for that have left. Iberville is pretty corrupt (just this week in the news for paying salaried employees overtime for normal work hours). They could do more classes and programs for the money in the parish. The quality has declined a bit under the current leadership, but it's decent with 90% good quality teachers and decent kids.
