Anybody ever gotten off Suboxone/Subutex successfully?

TL;DR at bottom—edit : paging SuperSaint. He seems well versed in opiate addiction
Not looking to be called a junkie/drug abuser or any negativity please.
I had 3 surgeries (not related to my back pain) in a year and was given copious amounts of Oxycodone. After almost 2 years of Oxycodone for breakthrough pain and low dose fentanyl patches for chronic pain I asked my doctor about getting off of it. I knew I was physically addicted and didn’t like the thought of that.
He suggested Subutex (Buprenorphine HCL) because I have a Naloxone allergy.
I started off with 12mg daily around 3 years ago. And got up to 32mg daily. Obviously it’s not “sober” by any means. But it helps with my back pain (bulging disc, too young for surgery unless it herniates) and I am exponentially more functional than I was on Fentanyl patches and Oxycodone.
But I again feel chained to a drug and don’t like that.
I’ve gotten my dose down to ~2mg a day, 1mg morning and 1mg at night. Took ~month of tapering to get there.
But as soon as I try to go more than 36 hours without a dose I go into the worst withdrawals I can imagine. Restless legs/arms, worse back pain than before (lower back pain, bulging disc is upper back), can’t sleep for days at a time (this made me restart the 1mg 2x daily after 5 days of no sleep), couldn’t eat, could barely hold down fluids.
It’s horrible. But I don’t want to be a slave to a drug anymore.
Doctor claims I can stop taking it now that I’m at 2mg daily but everything online says that’s the hardest dose to get off, getting to that dose was easy but seems impossible to get off of entirely.
Has anybody been on long term opioid maintenance and successfully gotten off? Did you take any comfort meds to help with detox? I have gabapentin for restless legs, zanaflex for muscle spasms/my bulging disc, vistiril for nerves and seroquil for sleep. Access to weed but never really been in the drug scene besides the drug dealing doctor, so I’d like to avoid it unless it might help with my chronic pain until I have surgery.
Would love to hear a success story and get some hope, because it feels hopeless.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Tired of being chained to that shite.
Again no negative comments unless you really feel compelled to kick somebody that already feels really defeated.
Thanks guys.
TL;DR
Been on Subutex for 3 years, weaned from 32mg to 2mg and having extreme difficulties getting off entirely, asking for recs on how to get off completely

You need to go to a medical detox to get off of it. You are setting yourself up for failure if you don’t.
Detox is a bitch and you will be miserable for 2-3 weeks

Try taking 1mg and fighting the nighttime dose with sleep aids and Advil

If you get off it you won’t sleep like you want for about a month. It’s a long process but I’ve seen plenty of people pull it off. The first few weeks are rough though. It’s going to be tricky going forward with chronic back pain

Have you tried going down to 1mg per day?

If you have weaned your way down to only 1mg in the morning and 1mg at night you will be ok buddy. You’ve done everything right so far. It’s the people that go from the opiates to the butes, (suboxone), cold turkey that end up suffering. You will have a hard time for only about 72 hours then you’ll be ok. You have weaned yourself properly.

Detox sucks bro. But it's worth it. You did good to titrate yourself down like you did. Some trazadone might help you sleep but I wouldn't want to do that regular either. For about 2 weeks I only slept every other night. Then it started getting better a little more each night. A lot of people use things like tylenol PM and melatonin and such. But I like just being natural these days other than tylenol or advil.
Hang in there. You can do it.
ETA: The first few nights I slept little to none. Second week was every other night.

When you see him, tell him you're struggling with this and ask if he has anything that may help curb some of the withdrawal symptoms you're having.
It's not an easy thing to quit, but fear not- there are plenty of folks out there who have gotten off and done well without it.

First congrats on wanting to change your life for the better.
2nd have seen loads of people successfully get off the suboxone. Best way to do it though is at a medical detox as sub detox is no joke. Email me my user name at gmail and can recommend some depending where you are located.

Need to make a burner email.
Trying to avoid in patient or medical detox if at all possible.
But definitely trying to not feel like death.
I’m currently trying to do 1mg twice a day one day, then 1mg at night the next day with hopes to get down to 1mg soon

Hey man,, take the smallest amount you can take and then taper to every other day. Don't jump off at 2mgs. This stuff can have up to a 70 hour half-life and that's close to 2 weeks of getting it out of your system and then your brain has to get back to making dopamine and serotonin at normal levels. Not gonna lie, it sucks. It's gonna take 2 to 3 months to really feel better. You gotta go into it ready to be done with it. One day at a time. Cliche, but look at 1 day as one day closer to being free of that monster.. Take Care and Good Luck man..

Been on it for years. I may take it forever because it's the only thing keeping me from being passed out in a box with a needle in my arm. It sucks to be dependent on it and tough to get off of but much better than abusing opiates or being sick. It saved my life. Good luck.

I just don’t see the point of getting off of something that’s helping your symptoms.
So you depend on it - so what? You don’t tell someone with bad eyesight to get off their glasses/contacts (unless you’re a lasik provider).

Half the 1-1 to 1/2 and 1/2 mg and then jump after a week. Try to get one week of something to help with anxiety if possible.

Kratom will help curb your withdrawals and after a few weeks on it you can quit cold turkey. Only withdrawal from kratom is you’ll be tired for a day or two.

Stock up on some kratom and xanax/kolonopin for when it gets unbearable or you just need to get some sleep. Clonidine and something else I can't quite remember are usually used if detoxing in a hospital or wherever.

From my youtube binges that shite is way harder to kick than heroin from a withdrawal standpoint. gl

Did big Pharma stop going after Kratom companies?
