The weird part for me is my attorney has been really quiet. Had a yes/no question for them 2 days ago and they still haven't responded.
Your attorney likely saw your question, put it aside because it was Friday/the weekend, and then forgot about it. Just follow back up. It happens.

Allstate has been absolute trash to deal with.

Does this basically guarantee it will be dragged out?
Will it stop production on contents and ALE? Might be getting close with those

From what my attorney no, does not guarantee that. The insurance company will still drop mail the check to you when they run their numbers. However, your attorney may have you send them the check to hold in escrow on your behalf (will delay getting the money). The legal team will then send a counter offer, and insurance has xx days to respond (don't remember if 30 or 90). After their response, it really depends on how much you want to fight, or how much the insurance is screwing you over.
Have a friend that does some work with public adjusters and he said in his experience (pre-Ida), the insurance companies are generally pretty reasonable with their responses to attorney demands. Except for extreme cases, he's hasn't seen many drag on more than 6-9 months. But, this was pre-Ida and it appears insurance companies are dragging their feet even more right now.

Filed FEMA claim for chainsaw and generator 9/19. Receipts uploaded 9/22 and 9/24. Zero response until today when I received approval letter saying they’re sending me $800.
I guess that is for both credits? The generator I bought was $2,500, and the saw was $350 (of course), so I guess they gave me the max.
FYI. YMMV. #Let’sGoBrandon

We've been battling since the first week. Your insurance company is your enemy. Constantly call, email, and CC the Louisiana insurance commissioner's office. File an official complaint with the state. Report them to the FCC. Threaten to talk to the press regarding companies that "revictimize hurricane victims" and regularly use the terms "acting in bad faith" and "gross negligence."
It won't be pleasant but you'll get the money owed you.
Shouldn't be this way, but so it goes.
I'm 75% of the way through.
