I have an 09 extended and I wouldn't recommend extended.
Rear facing was impossible, front facing still sucks.

Im looking inside a Tacoma on my showroom, plenty of room for car seat. If you have those huge, reinforced carseats, then may become a lil tight against the back of front seats. My crewmax Tundra ia a house, double cab Tundra has plenty of room too. Email me and come see them in person, so you can narrow it down

I know it's about a Tacoma, but man I had so much room in my Tundra Crewmax...it was ridiculous. It was more room than my wife's Jetta. I plan on getting another one. Your kid would have to be 17 to even come close to your seat or your wife's

Got the tundra, have two small kids, great truck. Gas mileage, well you know. Just bought a 26' camper and it pulls it nicely. Gas mileage pulling that is next to ridiculous. I'll never buy a truck besides a tundra fwiw.

I have a 12 Tacoma 4 door with 3 kids, 2 of which are in car seats. Plenty of room for car seats in the 4 door. You can't slide or recline the seat back too far with the car seat installed but unless your an extremely tall person it won't matter. There are multiple car seat latches on the back seat so you can install it in any seat any position.

I have 1 baby in car seat & the other in a booster & they do great in an older 4Runner back seat, which is similar in size to a 4DR Taco. My next vehicle will most likely be a new Tacoma as well. The Tundra is nice, extremely cavernous in crew max form but the MPG is horrendous.
