The lack of flaring would suggest that the refinery is operating normally.

It's just Shell. Motiva has been gone for a couple of years now.

Turnaround season
nope, whatever it is was unplanned and is affecting all products across the loading rack. in other words they ain't selling anything....highly unusual
besides if it was scheduled we would have gotten notification

So the pipelines and river are closed too? You think all products are shipped by rail?

Dont know what to tell you. The refinery is not down.

I work for Shell @ norco and I'm not aware of any units down. Valero St. Charles east plant is down for a turnaround tho.

thanks for the responses guys... they notified all wholesalers/jobbers Friday in an emergency telephone conference that the Kenner terminal will be down minimum two weeks and did not give a reason.
this is highly unusual...pretty much unprecedented to not load any grades of gas and diesel, esp for for such a long period...sans a hurricane or storm.
it has pretty much upended all Shell wholesalers and jobbers in Louisiana. they are directing traffic to Convent, Pascagoula, Collins etc but they have put everyone on allocation.
just a very unprecedented move on their part

Maybe. For competition purposes refineries have become tighter with shutdown plans. Industry reporters were crying about it last year.
