Didn't they used to call those things V Tailed Dr Killers?

I have a phobia about single engine planes. Stay away from them for the most part but flew in this old Otter last week in Fiji.

Figured it was safe since we could land anywhere. Other than that single engine planes are a nope for me.

Side note: I have some video of landing and taking off from the water I will share one day when I get around to it. Pretty cool experience.

That plane is powered by a turbine engine. They're much safer.

Yea from what I understand they are tough as can be and you pretty much have to rip a wing off of one to crash it.

Ive got a lot of nostalgic feels for the old radial engines. Beavers still have them.

My FiL had one and it was a great bush plane.

They really are and the single and twins otters are really workhorses. IIRC, there was an AD on the Twin's wings that pretty much killed them off.

Yeah haven't seen one in years around here.

They had an otter crash in Ketchikan last week.

I knew someone that was buying them up and exporting them south of the border. I don't know if any of them are still flying.
I heard about the crash up there. Everyone walked away right?

Don't know how. Pilot got confused and mistook a mountain for water.

Worked as a flight instructor for 3 years, first Officer for a regional airline for 2 years, and I’ve been flying corporate for the past 4 years. Went up for a random discovery flight a little over 10 years ago and it ended up being my career, I guess you can say Aviation is slightly addicting.

Where do you keep your plane over at hooks? I fly a 182 about once a month over by rite way in one of the community hangars. I instructed over at UFS for 2 years so hooks was my home for quite a while.

Mountains tend to hide in clouds. A&P mechanic here, not a licensed pilot but can takeoff land and kinda sorta hover a helicopter.

Which regional, and why did you leave Part 121 to go corporate, if you don’t mind me asking?

Are you on BeechTalk? That's a great forum for Beechcraft owners and pilots.
