Sort of for alcoholics. If someone wants to stop drinking, one of the drugs they use is disulfiram. It causes a bad reaction (kinda makes them sick) if they drink while taking the med.

Your answer is capsaicin, the substance that causes the burning sensation in hot peppers. It’s a TRPV1 agonist that initially causes burning but once that fades, results pain relief. Drug companies were looking at the TRPV1 receptor as a target for non-addictive pain meds for a while but I haven’t kept up.
CSB: They did a study injecting a substance similar to capsaicin into mice brains, the Mice would writhe in agony like every cell
in their body was being seared with a hot iron and once it wore off, the mice would just go back to normal. One of the people on the research team commented off the record that the compound they were working on would be the most painful method of torture for a human being but leave them relatively unscathed once it wore off.

i think I get where you are coming from. I just took one of the most pleasant shits I've had in a while. Mind you, I was a bit constipated, but the ending was quite cathartic.
Got a lot of good thinking done too. I'm pretty certain some of mankind's most history-defining moments were thought up during a nice shite.
But I'll bite. Society has for the most part conditioned people to expect a life of little to no pain. I'm not talking about the petty forms of pain that we all face every day, but the pain that makes us who we are. If you are going through something, embrace/acknoledge the simple truth that pain is the other ingredient essential to life, as it gives it meaning, and handle it.
Strife is good. Can't appreciate the sunny days without having some cloudy ones to...
