Louisiana notaries aren’t the same as other states so you pay more.

FYI to others needing a notary: I learned that the library system in Little Rock notarizes documents for free. So instead of paying the UPS store or whoever if you don’t have a local bank, check your local library.

Where are you located? I'm in Dallas and every UPS store or bank that I went to had a notary on hand. My sister in New Orleans said that she went to multiple places and all of them said that basically no banks or UPS stores in the area had a notary on staff. She had to pay $35 and meet a guy to get the same document that I got notarized at the UPS store for like $7. I think it greatly depends on where you live.

I explained this in one of my posts above. It’s much harder to become a notary in Louisiana compared to other states.

Louisiana is a civil law state that places more authority on notaries. The other 49 states are common law states where becoming a notary is no big deal. That’s why you have to pay a lot more for a notary in Louisiana.

I wouldn’t mind being a full time remote notary. What are the pay and benefits (health, dental, 401k, yearly bonus, hiring bonus, profit sharing, etc) like?

Also, what do I need to do to become qualified? I’ve been to a notary a few times, they just check that your signature and picture matches your DL and then get their big stamp ready for your paperwork.

Twice I've been approached in the local library parking lots by mobile notaries scouting for work. One of them even suggested that she could notarize stuff even in the absence of one of the parties. I mean, she just volunteered that--I didn't ask.

Bold strategy to offer the commission of a felony just to get a client.

Are you serious? I was a notary for a few years doing real estate appraisals and there's no market for side cash.

You can just walk into your bank or the courthouse here and walk out with your documents notarized.

And if someone were to be willing to pay, I think places like CVS or UPS store places have notaries.

I'm in Jinx, MS, every week I'll see a post in a local FB group where someone is need a notary at odd hours or one that will come to their house.
