What's the cost and what products do you have?

Pros/Cons? Success stories?

thx

It is a very poor substitute for real insurance.

If you run the numbers you will see the ROI is negligible.

I'm not a fan at all.

Had a gap policy when my child was born. They made it so freaking difficult to get your money it wasn't worth it in my opinion.

It wouldn't be a substitute, it would be supplemental to insurance coverage.

Just so you know, you have tons of paperwork you have to fill out. Send it off, to get your money back. Some of it you have to get Drs to sign and that can be bitch.

My mom had it through work and every time I'd get sick or hurt from playing a sport she'd do it for me with my Dr. appointments and what not and then give me half of the money we'd get back.

Now that I think of it though, I definitely got shafted in that deal.

I have Aflac and in the past year (maybe two?) they changed to some quick claim system. I got paid next day after I submitted.

I forget the cost but mine is pretax for both FICA + income taxes which saves some money. They also give me a "wellness benefit" which means if I show up to my doctor and submit a claim they give me like $75 once a year

Aflac isn't designed to be "real insurance." If you use it as such, you are pretty dumb

Depends who you are. I have some family with cancer, it covers my screenings for the most part and if I ever get cancer I'm way better off

You don't know the monthly premium cost roughly? and do you have individual or family coverage?

Aflac and Northwestern Mutual cold-calling about life insurance have to be two of the worst jobs out there.

Added it to my cafeteria plan 2 years ago. When I was diagnosed as a late onset type 1 diabetic, they paid $5,000, which covered my out of pocket cost for my insulin pump. Huge help.

I have individual and I think accident ~$20/month but that is pretax so it would be ~$12/m otherwise. I also get ~$60-70 back if I have one submitted doctor visit a year. No idea about cancer or ICU (I think my ICU/hospital is pretty cheap though).

Aflac isn't for everyone. Works for me though

Some people use it as such.

Also, it isn't even a good supplement.

We reviewed the cost and benefits to see if it made sense to offer to our FTEs.

It was very "meh".

Pretty much a one-tjme payment if you get a catastrophic illness.

When I worked for a startup company that had very minimal insurance, I had AFLAC for supplemental. It turned out great for us. We had a baby that year and actually made money off the pregnancy! Not so much since then, though.
