Two close friends of mine have one, they’re very nice and friendly but health issues can be significant

I have one will, never get another one. Aggressive towards other dogs, extreme jealousy, very emotional(cries constantly), snores loud at night.

Get an American Bulldog instead and be done with it.

But if you set on that english bulldog type, get an olde english bulldog. Can't comment on the health of that breed but they look similar enough and more fit version of the english bulldog.

There are a lot of positives and negatives in this thread. You have to do the research yourself and see if the breed fits for you and your lifestyle. I would argue that most of the people on this thread that are telling you that bulldogs have health issues do not have any first hand experience with them. They are just repeating what they have heard. Any breed can have health issues.

Here is a link that I have used when needing to find out something I do not know.

Very helpful with great information.

I repeat the I believe it all goes back to the Breeder and how you will take care of him/her with diet, baths, training, etc.

Good luck.

That's what I have. I posted a picture of the 2 year old female I have earlier in this thread. Zero health problems and a great dog.

Whole lot of truth right there.

Any breed of dog that is closely bred will have health issues. Do your research on the Breeder and where he/she is getting the Sire and his lineage.

Diet will play a huge role in a Bulldogs life and the issues they may have. Do research here also and be prepared for a higher food quality throughout his life. A proper diet can cut back on the skin, and health issues they may have on a daily basis or later in life. Most EBD are allergic to chicken and grains in dog foods can upset their digestive systems. Cut these out and you will all but kill their farts they can be known to have.
