Some speed limits make no sense. For example, Earheart Expressway is essentially an interstate but the speed limit is 50. If you go 60 on that road you’ll likely get run over.

Clearview Parkway is 35 but that is ridiculous. Should be 50.

Driving 70 on the interstate feels like Grandma Moses.

Feels like a lot of speed limits are set arbitrarily to trap the driving public, i.e., a road tax.

Question: How many MPH over do you allow before pulling over.

I’ve always heard the saying “Eight is great, nine, you’re mine”

What say the boys (and chicks) in blue?

Pretty sure there is a state law that says if they pull you over for doing less than 5 over the speed limit on a state highway or interstate, the money from the fine goes to the state, not the town.

Golden Meadow is no longer such a speed trap as it used to be.
Highway 3235 has been open for years now and it runs from Larose through GM. Since the old mayor, Jervis Autin, passed away they do not set up speed traps on La. 1 any longer, they mainly do speed enforcement on 3235. The speed limit is 50 on the 4 lane highway and they will give you about 5 over.

I am pretty good friends with the Chief Of Police in GM and he has told me many times that he gives 5 over on the highway and on La.1 and all of the thru streets are strictly enforced but there is pretty much only local traffic on those roads. The out of town folks almost always use 3235 to get to Leeville, Fourchon, Grand Isle and all points in between.
They are really after the out of town people who are speeding on the highway.
