Cosmo I was just about to post that the most I've ever gotten from a pharm company was dinner at Ruth's so we would consider putting their new antibx on our pharmacy formulary.

Dang. They really must have brought the hammer down. My dad used to get Saints tickets in the suites all the time.

They rarely even do dinners anymore.
Thanks obama, telling private companies how they can spend their money

In the mid 90s they took me and my dad overnight deep sea fishing trip

Damn, not even pens?
It would suck to be a pharm rep now. Golden days are long gone.

So YOU ADMIT the pharmaceutical companies can offer you an amount which would make you compromise your ethical duties!!!!
Nah. I actually just want to call and ask them how their day is going. They get such hate from so many people, often for unwarranted reasons. People forget that pharm reps are people, too.
Mostly beautiful, well-spoken people.

Apparently a device that would allow me to get through about 3 weeks of my job would influence me too much, allowing me to compromise my better judgment in the hopes of more pens.

Most of the ones I come into contact with are middle-aged overweight men who bring Cane's for lunch.
I never experienced "the good old days" except for a few pens and coffee mugs that have been around for 10 years or more.

If you're ever curious, there is a website where you can look up your Dr and see what they've taken from any pharma company. It'll list the amount and name of company.
found the link

Agree. Every time i see a drug rep Im expecting a check or steak dinner. They dont give me shite. Not even a damn pen.
We can't do any of that any longer.
Hell, if I buy a doctor and his staff coffee I have to log it into our system and it gets reported in a national database.
That venti white chocolate mocha ensures Dr. Jackson is in my pocket!

Did you ever host any "speaker programs" that were really trips or expensive dinners before the Sunshine Act? I always love these stories.

We can't give anything that doesn't have a "medical or educational purpose".
We have some patient education posters that we can leave in patient rooms that have a value of $1.23.
I have to log every poster I leave in the system as something of "value" given to a physician so it can be reported.
It's all so dumb. No nurse or doctor worth half a damn ever wrote a Rx just because some drug rep gave them a pen and sticky notes.

No trip but we used to do "Dine and Dashes".
We'd have a speaker at a restaurant and the docs would come in and order dinner to go for their family. They would shoot the shite with the speaker until the order was ready and then they would leave. We picked up all the tabs.
Speaker programs aren't worth the bother any longer now that docs can't bring spouses.
It's the same 7-8 single, divorced three times docs that come to every single one.
