Who cares about its origins? Just because a practice was started for questionable reasons doesn't mean it doesn't have merits in the present.
Sure, if you clean your anteater penis thoroughly and live in America, one could make an argument that you are at an extremely low risk of adverse effects from keeping your skin. (Though, I will say that arguing that we can now cure the infections you're at higher risk for is a shaky argument.)
However, there are health benefits from circumcision. With an unkempt anteater one can get dick cheese. Dick cheese = inflammation. Inflammation leads to skin constricting around your pecker. Inflammation can lead to dick cancer. A hooded dick is also a warm moist home to viruses and bacteria and can make you more susceptible to infection.
In addition to all of this, women largely prefer the aesthetics of a circumcised penises in America.
If you know all that and still wanna keep the hood up, go ahead.

Not at all, but most STDs are curable with a shot except HIV.
