Bourdain probably had the most impact in the last 2 decades concerning people's willingness and desire to travel, try new foods, and just try new experiences than anybody else
He definitely introduced a lot of meals that I would have never heard of or tried. Open my mind to south East Asian and Korean food in particular.
He generally did a good job and wasn’t cringy with Cajun and Mexican food, the two food cultures I know the best, that alone is impressive and lends credibility

You would think all the traveling, sampling different lifestyles around the world, getting fricked up all the time would yield some sort of satisfaction in life he did seem a bit cynical at times though so who knows.

Really sad to hear this. He was one of my culinary idols.

Regardless of how you felt about him, he was one of the most intellectual story tellers that has ever graced Television.
It is no surprise he was fighting battles inside. I'll miss his travels.

He was just in Lafayette eating at the last Popeyes buffet for a few days. Crazy.
Well we know what killed him, it was the shittty popeyes.

He openly talked about his heroin and cocaine addiction in the late 80's throughout his "No Reservations" series and his book. With that being said, he was still able to have some level of a good time and travel the world.

They didn't like his politics. Plain and simple
He was rumored to be an a-hole off camera long before that

It's always odd to look at someone's recent social media interaction right before they do something like this. Looked like he was still enjoying life. You just never know what is truly in someone's head.

He dispised our politics plain and simple and it made him angry.

Probably the best food/travel show to ever cover the region, imo.

That's the only episode I have seen. I was looking forward to seeing his popeyes episode unless that was just a personal guilty pleasure.

From the looks of his social media, I think Trump was in his head.

@LamarWhiteJr Follow Follow @LamarWhiteJr More Anthony Bourdain loved and understood Louisiana better than anyone not from here possibly could. He got us. Here he was in Mardi Gras in Mamou this year, where he dressed up in a costume to chase a chicken for a gumbo. And yes, this was all perfectly sensible.

While he was just another person, it always seems more terrible to me when someone takes their life compared to someone that has a natural death. They kill themselves because of some kind of anguish or sadness they had and that seems pretty damn terrible to me.
It's nearly impossible to comprehend until you or someone close to you has experienced true clinical depression. It's much more than just the normal everyday sadness and distress that most people cope with on a daily basis. Sometimes the emotions are so strong that they completely override what should seem like common sense.

The Layover show he filmed in NOLA was great. Ends up at Snake and Jakes late night.

I really enjoy his shows and am very sorry to hear this news. Awful for his family and friends.
Drugs and depression are awful and you never know what goes on inside people's heads.
