He usually gushes over the local cuisine wayyyy more though with his voice over narrative.

He didn’t really do that in that episode.

I’m not saying he looked absolutely miserable...he just seemed off. Like he was just really tired or not feeling well but still trudging through it.

He probably couldn’t shake what he saw when the cameras were off. The truth. That true detective was real.

The episode didn’t really go in depth on the food though. It was more about the ride, the music, and the people. He did an episode down there already with the food. Probably felt it would be a rehashed idea so they did Mardi Gras.

From what I gather from the few episodes I have seen is Parts Unknown is more about culture than food. There's obviously food but it's not the sole focus of the show.

Yea. No Reservations was more about food.

Wife and I caught it last night. We both got the impression that he seemed a bit disengaged just because he wasn't in to the whole drunkery/catching chicken thing. Otherwise, he seemed pretty normal and he actually ended it on a high note.

I was expecting way more attention on the food. The No Reservations in Acadiana was great.

Those are the only two episodes of Bourdain I’ve ever watched so I have nothing to compare them to

Is Suire's worth going out of your way for? I have passed by it many times but I never heard anyone talk about it until the show.

Parts unknown has drifted from a good show to social commentary show.

Go when they have the turtle. We’ll stop when passing that way for hunting/fishing trips but I’m not driving there just to eat

Well. North and cen Louisiana aren't even considered Louisiana, by anyone south of Alexandria, so there is that.

I wish I would’ve known that. I would’ve told the state to kick rocks when they wanted income tax.

I watched it this morning.

It seemed like he was into the idea at first but then met the people and regretted it.
He especially was put off by the women not being allowed.
When getting food he seemed ok, but in interactions he was more withdrawn from the people.

You live south of Alexandria? Or did you only read the first part?

Not necessarily bitter. Just annoyed with these Acadiana people who literally think they’re above the rest of the state. They shite on BR, CenLa and North LA on the regular as if their region of the state is actually better. Come on, it’s the worst region in the state

I've never met anyone that fits this description. Some baw from Lafayette fricked your girl? It isn't just Acadiana people shitting on Cenla and North LA. It's the entire South Louisiana because lets be honest there's really no comparison between the two.

I didn’t grow up in Ruston or Acadiana but if I had to choose, it would be Ruston without a doubt in my mind. Acadiana is a joke come on dude.

I would be upset if I had to spend a weekend in Ruston.

That's because you're a bitch.

I read it all. The state government is south of Alexandria right? So by your logic, they don’t consider north LA to be LA. So I should’ve told them I don’t owe Louisiana state taxes since according to them, I wasn’t in Louisiana.

Are Billy's, Don's and the Best Stop all worth checking out right there?

------

Yes. Don's has the prettiest building, but worst boudin of the three. For me, Best Stop #1, Billy's #2 of any boudin I've had.

Yes, it is really good and feels like you are going back in time kind of like the Yellow Bowl (between Baldwin & Jeanerette...its all restaurant and not a store like Suire's though).
