It's sad how someone lost their life over something so small like a few pot plants.

I'm usually a white knight for LE, but no knocks are bad business. They should only be used in extreme cases were the warrant is being served on known killers or when the LE believe by knocking they will put themselves in greater harm. In this case it was an overzealous cop who got himself killed trying to play TV cop. Even with what he presented to the judge it shouldn't have warranted this unless the suspect was a known felon with violent convictions.

That is fricking nuts. I feel bad for the guy who killed the officer, I would shoot someone if they broke in like that too

unless he has a lousy attorney the case shouldn't even be close.

you have reason to be in fear for your life and use a weapon if a stranger bursts in through the door without warning.

This really falls on the shoulders of the department. They send out the SWAT teams now for every little thing. They hardly ever find the huge busts.

Live by the gun of the hand,
Die by the gun of the hand.
The Gestapo must be prepared for casualties when treating people like enemy combatants rather than citizens.
Charging the victim with a capital crime is a crime in itself.

You are one sick SOB to say something like that.

Nobody deserves to be killed.

While I agree that this situation was mishandled, the ultimate responsibility falls on the man who shot and killed the officer and the Judge who issued the warrant.

No knock warrants are very dangerous situations. They should only be issued when there is Probable case that indicates that there are forceable felonies occurring and there is no other way to execute a search warrant. Whenever a warrant goes bad like this, there will be obvious tactical mistakes that were made that ultimately led to this officer's death.

you deserve to get shot if you break into someone's home, plain and simple.

yea, cops shouldn't be playing army without good reason. The judge also deserves blame for allowing it to happen. The home owner deserves no blame at all, someone was breaking into his place.

no, im countering the fact that for some reason they think it's okay to charge this man with murder at all. i never said he deserved it. typical twisting of words i see. sorry you're an apologist for someone not being able to defend their home. obama and his police state thanks you for your dedication to their cause.

So the officer who requested the warrant and was in charge of the swat team doesn't hold any responsibility??

Officers embellish to get warrants signed, and magistrates are just too happy to oblige them. It's just the reality of the situation. This puts officers in danger, but this puts the citizens in even more danger.

Last July, Burbank weighed in on the issue of police militarization during an interview with the Deseret News. He said he worried that police were becoming too aggressive and too willing to use force.

“We’re not the military,” Burbank said at the time. “Nor should we look like an invading force coming in."

Local police forces have become your local military. You are the enemy of the State.

Wag. You putting the fault on everyone except the cops.

It is bad that anyone died. However I am glad that it was not the homeowner. Just like a wreck involving a dui. If someone dies I hope it js not the innocent. Here the homeowner is the innocent party and the cop is guilty of busting into the mans house.
