You are a leftist race baiting POS. The likely reason you care and posted about the chief in this thread in the first place is only because he is black and want to call out the person labeling him as a DEI hire.
Criticizing someone for not allowing high level rescue boat crews from Austin’s fire department to pre-deploy ahead of the flooding is not blaming anyone for flooding that occurred nor is it saying lives wouldn’t have still been lost.

Anyone calling this guy a "DEI hire" is ignorant, full of shite, just stirring the pot, or all of the above.

He might be book smart and have a bunch of letters behind his name, but his decisions around this flood were straight up retarded...

It has a real chance of winding up being the reality for a whole bunch of folks involved.
You have the state saying they had tons of resources, including from Texas A&M, and manpower in the field days in advance of the flood, and even repositioned them the day before once they had a "good idea" where the worst flooding could be. Meanwhile, you have the Kerrville mayor saying that he didn't know anything about those resources being in his area. You have them acknowledging that they had over three hours lead time with the first flash flood warning for the area. They're on record saying that the NWS had near constant communication with authorities in Kerr county and Kerrville. Yet, for some reason the evacuation effort came down to a couple of heroes in pickup trucks?
So yeah, if we are going to actually be honest at this point......a few balls were dropped. And honestly, it doesn't look like it would have mattered if the Austin FD had people in the field or not, there was supposedly pretty good early response from others.
