Looks like the dog was trying to attack the cop. maybe he could have pulled out a stick and beat the dog? Definitely think the cop was in his right to defend himself but maybe he could have handled it non-lethal.

Aggressive dog was aggressive?

No shite. I guess I missed the part where his owner/trainer was there & the dog ignored his commands

When I watch that video I see a strange man park his car and start to approach two young boys playing in the yard with their dog, and the dog run out to deter the stranger.

By the time the cop shot his was standing directly next to his cruiser. Could have kicked the dog, could have used a taser or mace. He could have gotten in his car and gone on his merry way because he was looking for a pack of 4 dogs, not one dog in its front yard with two young kids.

I’m glad squirrels and the grass guys cranking the lawnmower don’t have guns. Dogs would be extinct for being dogs. Again, as a superior intellect the cop could have asked the children to put the killer dog in the house from the safety of his car if he truly feared for his life

Cops are such pussies a lot of times. If you’re so trigger happy and nervous, find a different profession. His life wasn’t in jeopardy. What a bitch. Scarred the kids for his bleeding vag.

But just put your fricking dog inside in a room since cops are so terrified.

Yeah, he used poor judgment and shouldn't have shot that close to those boys. I'd be more pissed about that.

He had plenty time to get back in his cruiser.

Yet...he was still within his right. Just a dumbass. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Or here is a wild idea that I know sounds so impossible for dog owners and completely unfair to fluffy:

Simply keep the dog anywhere on your property.

The dog reacted like a dog to someone walking up to his property. This may come as a surprise that dogs don’t know property lines. Again, how many dogs have run towards you barking that ended in you being attacked? If the answer is zero, and you are not able to analyze the situation and draw from past experiences with dogs being dogs, and you’re reaction is to shoot the dog - you’re a fricking retard.

You need therapy and most likely psychotropic meds.

Not surprised at all. It’s why many dogs leave their property and kill children or adults at times.

Hence why you should have a fence to prevent your dog from leaving your property and attacking others It’s actually the law….

He pulled out a gun and shot towards children because he was scared to be bitten. I’ve been in this situation many times. If things escalated he had the means to take care of it. But alas, a lot of cops are actually terrified and think they are immune from any sort of occupational hazard, and if threatened, they’ll just kill it.

Him being a cop has absolutely nothing to do with anything here. Any take abiding citizen could have killed that dog and they are perfectly justified

Make him a 13 year old girl, a 24 year old football player, and 67 year old grandmother etc

But it wasn’t a kid or old grandma, it was cop who’s supposed to be trained to handle extreme situations. And no I don’t call that situation extreme!

I don't think I would have shot the dog. I would have sat in my car and watched for a few minutes, but we don't know what happen before. Need to see more the video when he first arrived.

Clearly that was this dog's home and kids looked like they were playing. You can here the woman say OMG. She obviously knew the dog does this.

He should have gotten back in his cruiser and used the PA speaker.
