"Close call" would imply there was the possibility of a serious accident, but nothing happened, this was a direct hit with major damage.

Damn, that's going to cost A LOT of money in both repairs and lost revenue. Did the pilot just stop and not pull the plane all the way forward?

Unclear. Maybe he was told to stop by someone on the ground. At any rate the other pilot should have noticed something wasn't right.
