If you do happen to forget your firearm, there is/was a knife shop right outside the gate. The perfect gift for a loved one that was wrongly incarcerated.

It's a great festival if you don't need alcohol or pot to enjoy a festival. The rodeo is incredible and the arts/crafts/random shite for sale is really cheap since they operate on their own separate mini-economy in there.

It is lots of fun. Worth the drive if you're thinking about it. Bring lots of cash and no weapons or drugs. Also, don't bring and good looking chicks

So explain to me why murderers and such get to have fun while their victims and family's have to live with the pain they caused. I mean isnt Angola the worst of the worst? Does the money made off of this go to the family's or does it go elsewhere?

It’d be better if they sold beer

I went years ago and it kind of left the impression of what the coliseum in rome must of been like.
It was a bit gory at points.

The ones in the rodeo are the ones who tend to the cattle and horses on the property IIRC. Angola sells beef.

The ones selling stuff made it in the craft shops. Angola sells a lot of that shite too.

They all have to be on good behavior, or they wouldn't be able to do shite. Keeping them busy keeps them from acting up 24/7. Don't forget that most of the inmates will be getting out at some point

Not all of them. Some work in kitchens, mattress factory, etc

There is only a handful of inmates that work with the livestock on a daily basis

Agree with your post except for that last sentence. I'm pretty sure 90% or so of these guys are lifers.
But yeah, all the ones who are allowed to interact with the public are trustees who put in a lot of time (as in decades) to get to that status. Makes $ for the prison, less that the taxpayers have to ante up.

The prisoner bands were pretty good the time I went.

Looks like i may drive down in October when the weather gets right. Will take my daughter with me. Think we would both really enjoy it

I think it's a great event and kids of all ages would enjoy it.

How old is she?(NO NOT LIKE THAT, ASSHOLES).
Just wondering if I would suggest staying in Natchez or BR. I've lived in Natchez but from BR and live here again.

For example, my 9 yr old would be content as hell at a Natchez B&B and walking around the Bluffs in Natchez throwing rocks in the river.

My 15 yr old would be much more content in downtown BR and like the rooftop view and sushi at Tsunami Saturday night.
