What is you net profit after all the taxes, shipping, handling and fees?
eBay takes 10% of total sales and shipping charges.
I don’t collect sales tax, eBay does that. The buyer pays it and eBay collects it. I never see it.
I don’t charge a “handling fee”. I may charge $3-$4 over shipping cost, if I need to buy a box.
I really couldn’t tell you my exact net profit because I really don’t know it, but I know I’m making pretty good money for a hobby.

That's what I was wondering. If over a year it generated a significant amount or would you be better picking up a day of OT or the like.
Can't put a price on the joy/hobby part.

I love your posts. That it’s one of the few hobbies that doesn’t lose money is even more remarkable. Free Ed’s

I’m strapped for cash. How much could I get for a “gently used” fleshlight?

Any money I make on OT at work, I consider “real money”. The money I make in my hobby, I consider “play money”. I treat them differently.
If that makes sense.

Woman wanted $10 for this old train set. I ended up passing on it because she wouldn't come down on price.
Lionel trains have really went down in value the past couple years. That set is worth about $60-70 in that condition. So if you bought if for $10, you need to factor in shipping, that's a large box, so you're looking at 20-35 to ship it. Unless you're collecting it yourself, I would've passed on it to.

Have you tried other outlets for selling besides eBay?

I sell the few big items I pick up (like a fake big green egg I got a couple weeks ago) on FB marketplace.
I sell LSU items on a FB LSU collectors’ page, and the same with any Saints items.
I have not tried Macari or any of those other platforms.

Sounds like way too much work for way to little money if this is the GOOD weekend
Eh, i do this full time and I find sourcing for the product fun. I made a little over 100k gross last year on ebay alone and about 10k on Poshmark.

With the hours involved and overhead costs what do you think you are making an hour?
I know this is a hobby, it sparks joy, but financially is it worth it?
Dude made a $1000 this weekend im sure its worth it

That was a good weekend, not a great weekend. But, it was a very fun weekend, and that is a big thing to consider.
I work over time tomorrow, and I will make more money tomorrow than I did that weekend (maybe not after Uncle Sam hits my paycheck).
Like the old fishing saying:
“A bad day of [going to garage sales] is better than a good day at work”

I’ve noticed that you have a good eye for things that have potential, like certain figurines, or glassware, toys, etc. I know that a lot of that knowledge comes from years of buying and selling the stuff but if I’m at a garage sale and I want to research a potential purchase, is there a single, reliable guide out there or do I search each item individually?
Also, is there a way to tell how the value of something is trending, like the poster above mentioned with the Lionel train set?

eBay is still probably the best place to find the value in something. Just make sure you search sold items and take in consideration the condition of the item.

The Three Dog Night ticket sold for $16, and the Eagle Rare bottle stand sold for $61
