And the choices aren’t “go outside and confront them” and “let them in to have their way with your family”. Why are you so stupid about this?
Where did I say it was?

But if you hear something outside around your garage, is going to check it out really that crazy it an idea? And when you go out there, you see a person. You tell that person to leave. They don’t. That person then starts walking at you. You fire a warning shot. The person keeps approaching. Shooting him is perfectly reasonable

The above is what happened. You are trying to make it sound like the kid was waiting at the door and the homeowner could see him from inside. That’s not the case. The homeowner heard a noise which then drew him outside

Maybe read the article first?

When Tezeno approached the homeowner, the homeowner fired a shot into the ground, “like a warning shot,” Mancuso said. Tezeno continued to approach the homeowner and the homeowner shot him twice, the Sheriff said.

That doesn’t say what you keep saying it does.

Excuse me? The dead kid continued to approach after the warning shot was fired.

You should probably get some training if you're planning to use a firearm.

The article says there was security footage. I’m assuming it’s from the homeowners cameras and that the homeowner saw him trying to open the front door.

In this case, based on what’s in the OP, it appears to have been the wrong decision.

This appears to be your OPINION.

I’m also not convinced the kid didn’t have ill intentions. How the hell does anyone know that? Because the family is saying it? He could have absolutely been trying to rob him

I would love to hear the explanation behind this opinion.

You know nothing about my situation or what works best for me, or probably even yourself. You're anti-gun and soft. Ideally, you'd just sit down and shut up. But, the internet gives you the opportunity to run your mouth to people who know more than you...so, here we are.

Unfortunate situation, but I don't see how anyone could possibly fault the homeowner here.

What if your parents live next door or you happen to know the neighbors kids are home alone, do you still let someone trying to break into your house without going outside?
How many people have been robbed/beaten/raped after the perp tried one place but then found an easy target next door?

How much you think ol boy is paying in legal fees?

Think he second guesses himself a ton?

Over/under on how many family members may be second guessing him?

He had already broken into the home. He was rummaging around in the garage.

Even if it is a detached garage, that is a part of the home.

^This. Until we see the video footage, I am assuming one of two things happened:

1. The dude was on other drugs, not just drunk and the warning shot had 0 affect
- or-
2. The dude was so drunk the warning shot pissed him off and he continued to advance.

I find it hard to believe the homeowner would shoot the guy without feeling he had to. Hell, he fired a warning shot first. If this was a "drunk guy stumbling around incoherently" situation I doubt the homeowner would shoot him. People who fire warning shots aren't usually the type of people "itching to kill someone".

How do you know the dead male didn’t mean harm to him and his family? He might have been planning on robbing and killing them

“He was drunk”. Ahh, nobody drunk has ever done anything bad
