I saw some guy almost get pulled out of his car and beat down from doing this. He was prob driving 30 mph on a street FULL of little kids waking/running all around from house to house, in the street... just doing what small kids do on Halloween. He got yelled at by some parents and he told the parents "F you, put your kids on a leash"... got very ugly from there. They blocked his car in with a gold cart and they were banging on his window trying to get him out.

People cut thru our neighborhood to get to interstate so they can avoid lights so this happens every single year in my neighborhood. It is pretty well signed what streets will be effectively shut down.

Doesn't stop people that i guess are just mentally checked out on their commute.

last year it got pretty testy with some old guy screaming to get thru

Is this Tara?

I'd be willing to bet it's either some fake facebook crap, or somewhere in Lake Charles, considering who the OP is.

No, it's not going to work. What a bunch of scrooges, I love giving out candy to all the little spooks, ghosts, Batmen, except little Barbie's, those freak me out.

A big neighborhood in Shreveport did their Halloween last weekend. Each person submits names as you enter a "security guard" scratches you off. It's actually really sweet to go ahead and knock it out.

That’s a clever way to keep Shreveport out of Provenance.

ISWYDT

I hate when the vans start rolling in dropping off boatloads of kids from the other side of town after 7:30. I make bags of the good candy for the kids in our subdivision we know and have a bucket of "cheap" candy for the others. Amount given definitely varies by how the act, the rude ones get one piece.

My FIL, who grew up in Lake Vista area in NO ,said they had parties on Friday nights in their neighborhood community center, and only residents of that neighborhood could go.
Because they own it or rented it out.

Why are y'all leaving candy bowls unattended? Whenever I've had kids of age to take trick or treating, we pass out candy before and after we go out.

Because they want to go out with their kids and they leave the bowl for kids who, shock of all shocks, are also trick or treating at the same time? Or because they’re going to a party and still want people to come get some candy? Or because they don’t want to sit outside and freeze their arse off waiting for kids to come? Or because they’re eating dinner? Or because they’re working?

I could rattle off some more reasons if you’d like.

Most of the time people are pretty good about taking one or two.

I’m fine with neighborhood speeders being pulled out of their cars and assaulted GTA style. We get a 40mph one here and there, and we quickly accost whoever they are connected to in our neighborhood.
Our HOA is mostly an honor system.

This is extremely disappointing. I wasted all that time discreetly putting razor blades in red apples for nothing. Dammit, we gone too soft, too fast.

It was a private club as well and you had to be a member. My parents were.

Not really. My neighborhood of about 200 homes own the streets and pay for the lights, clubhouse, etc. We pay for the constables to patrol my hood.

Not really. The city owns and maintains the roads. Does your HOA pay for all of the road repairs? If so, then, yes, you own your street.

Great in theory, but we have young kids. Trying to trick or treat around 7PM sharp, have the kids bathed and in bed by 9-9:30. It’s difficult to balance that while hoards of children are ringing my doorbell every 2 minutes.

Tonight we are paying the babysitter to hand out candy so we can both take the kids trick or treating. First time ever I’ll get to go and not have to stay home to pass out candy.
