I don't think even Hitler or Stalin would take that mantra and you want A US president to make that declaration? Did you think about it?

Of course. SOF performs many functions while taking out bad guys, including intel collection.

Besides, Team Obama thinks its golf, not chess or checkers.

I do believe that there will be significant political fallout as a result of what many will see as a series of foreign policy failures under this administration. I'm of the opinion it would be naïve to think otherwise. Unless some serious ground is gained soon in dealing with these creeps, they will be seen as yet another symptom of Obama's failed handling of Middle Eastern affairs- and Obama's political allies will no doubt suffer, this fall. My .02....

And I don't think anyone who's being serious can deny that this has overall been a disastrous year for this administration.

(All "redneck" remarks notwithstanding, of course.)

Why can't we just get rid of the Geneva convention? We are the only country that follows that bullshite anyways. I say round up MS13, The Bloods, The Crips, Hells Angels, and any other gang and fly them over on a plane full of the finest cocaine, weed, etc. Then tell them to have at it. Two birds with one stone.

I know I am 11 pages late with this, but how in the blue hell do you NOT blame Obama, at least in partiality? TWO Americans have literally lost their heads for no reason, and he is still on record as saying "We don't currently have a plan".

These ISIS turds aren't asking for the return of their imprisoned Guantanamo brothers, or else he would have gladly given them multiple ring leaders in exchange. He is inconsistent at best in his dealings with these people, and that is squarely on his shoulders.

In one case he negotiates a soldier (who may or may not have deserted/become a traitor), but then two reporters lose their lives within the span of a few weeks at the hands of the same people, and all of a sudden we no longer negotiate with terrorists? WTF kind of leadership is that?

You are damn right we are taking shots at the President. His office demands higher standards of integrity and character. He deserves everything he is getting as far as criticism goes.

The bottom line is these people at ISIS or ISIL or whatever they're calling themselves today is that they are beheading these reporters (and other innocent civilians) for two reasons:

1. They can
2. They think it benefits their cause

The way to stop this is for the US to convince them that they are wrong on both #1 & #2. Now it becomes a questions of how. How do we make them see that they cannot kill innocent civilians and it does not benefit them to try? Well first we have to identify a strategy that will communicate to them what we want them to know. In short, how do we get them to understand what we want them to understand? The answer to this is violence, fear, and shock. These are the tools they use to get their message across because these are the things they know best. What we have to do is use these tools to make them see that their use of these three things (violence, fear, and shock) will not result in anything benifical to them. Instead their use of these things will result in an in-kind response from us on a level that makes anything they can try pale in comparison. Make them see that we are very willing and able to unleash a level of death and destruction on them that if allowed to go on would result in the total destruction of their civilization. A good place to start would be to begin a bombing campaign on their "capital" of Ar-Raqqah. We should bomb it around the clock for a week solid with every B-1 and B-52 that we can put in the sky. Bomb the place until there is literally nothing but dust. This is the only thing that will ever make them stop. The sad part though is too many here in the west are so politically correct that we do not have the stomach to go through with it. Thus ISIS will continue to grow into a worse and worse threat until finally they are in a position to pull off an attack (or attacks) as bad or worse than 9/11.

Looking for um.....science....of course.

Excellent post, Darth. Unfortunately, as you said, no one has the stomach to do such a thing. This group continues to grow. And it will only get worse. As I posted on the last page, there has been a lot of intel gathered that seemed to just somehow magically disappeared (or as some may say, never happened). Maybe this current adminstration thinks that the old isolationist route is the best method to deal with ISIS - if that is the case, they either have their head in the sand or just don't care (which makes sense because they are on the out anyway...).

No, I don't believe he does. The people up for re-election might- but he seems to be living the care-free lifestyle. Strange times.
